Bio Ilja Visser
Ilja Visser is a Dutch fashion designer who founded both a couture line and a commercial label. Her studio, showroom and brand store are based in the city centre of Amsterdam. She studied Fashion Design at the Arts Academy in Arnhem (NL). The fine skills were learned during her apprenticeships with Donna Karan in New York and Maria Cornejo.
After graduating in 2001 she moved to Milan to discover the origin of fashion & textiles and inspiring designs. It was her time in Milan which aspired her to found her own label in 2005. The twice a year presented couture line ‘Ilja’ shows unique pieces that allow an artistic approach to fashion while being based on a conceptual vision. The limited range of garments is based on the refined craftsmanship in tailoring and manufacturing combined with fabric manipulations and the influences of modern innovations.
But Ilja Visser is a woman with ambition and soon after creating her couture line she launched a commercial label called ‘Ready to fish_’. With this label Ilja Visser takes a very innovative approach to fashion creating feminine and modern collections. As Ilja wants to share different artistic expressions you can also find furniture, scents and music at the brand store in Amsterdam. The creations from Ready to fish_ are available worldwide in over 70 shops and in the webshop.
