A symphony of fashion, dance & sound

After a quick and secretive sneak peek which we were allowed to see a week before the show, we couldn't wait to see the new collection of ILJA for Fall Winter 2012 2013. We had to learn to be patient... but it was worth the wait!

A week before the show the team of ILJA already shared some pics via FB where we could see them working hard on the collection SKIN\\\FONIE. We saw Ilja Visser in a recording studio for the soundtrack and her creative team hidden behind the sewing machine and a huge bundle of fabrics in all kind of shapes. We got curious after these typical scenes from a Loic Prigent-documentary...

The concept of SKIN\\\FONIE is the fusion of instinctive movement, sound and the art of dance. A dance is on of the most emotional movements a human being can create with his body; full of expression and grace. This collection represents a blend of modern expressional dance with classical ballet influences.

These two styles of dances were balanced in symmetrical organic shapes with a combination of voluminous skirts and dresses. The use of pale skin colors and concrete grey and black melange balanced this contrast even further.

Very interesting was how sound was integrated in the garments. Handcrafted graphics were digitally printed on fabric representing sound frequencies and each silhouette was a sound in itself. On the catwalk this was underlined by having each model accompanied by a different soundtrack. A symphony was at play here! For the eyes and the ears...

After the show we could congratulate the designer with her beautiful collection and new-born. The team was over the moon since all the hard work paid off and the models came by to have an up-close-and-personal look at the designs.

It was a show to remember as we got tuned and we could zoom in!
